Peckham Town Ladies Making an Impact

Peckham making an impact

It has been a great first season for Peckham Town Ladies as they have lifted the Greater London Women's League Division Three South title at the first attempt.

Peckham Town Football Club was established in 1982. and way back in early 2000 the club had two very good Under-12 girls teams which dominated the then London FA South London Girls League. However the teams did not continue as the girls got older and the adventure into girls and ladies football ended.

Following FA Ground Grading works at the Menace Arena in 2017, the club decided the time was right to restart the ladies team and they were entered into the Greater London Women's Football League and placed in Division Three South.

Peckham opened their season with a 5-0 victory over Hampton & Richmond Ladies and as they eased through the gears, found themselves leading the table - a position they held for a while but soon the expected wobble most teams have in deepest winter would see them drop to second.

However the well supported South Londoners, who are coached by former Fulham, Arsenal and England Ladies captain Mary Phillip and train alongside Peckham Town's men's first team, would prove their quality as they went on to capture the title with a solid team performance against Baldon Sports in front of nearly 100 spectators at the Menace Arena.

Peckham are managed by Adrian Butler with Mary Phillip as Coach, the team is captained by Sarah Quinn and Louise Wells was leading scorer with 24 league games to her name, adding a further nine in cup competitions. Other people who have played an important role for the club on and off the pitch are chairmen Bryan Hall and Mike Smith, secretary Jackie Kemsley and first aider Rohan Howitt.

Peckham Town Ladies are currently looking for proven experienced players for their push for greater success in season 2018-19. Interested players should contact the club on (07944) 488900 or e-mail Peckhamcefi@aol.com.
